Egg Drop #1 - K & J Egg Drop #3 - A & HEgg Drop #2 - BoysEgg Drop #5 - ContraptionEgg Drop #4 - Bleachers

Egg Drop – Using a bag of given materials, duct tape, and imagination the 8th grade science students constructed their egg drop devices.  While the ideas were different the goal was to lengthen impact time and reduce the downward velocity by creating drag.  A majority of the teams survived all the drops and had fun in the process.  Good job to all.

Gak - Group Gak - Emmeline Gak - Sydney

Gak – Students in 8th grade science were introduced to a polymer this Monday by combining a white glue mixture with a super saturated borax solution.  The result is a slimy polymer of glue molecules called Gak. Students experimented with how far it could stretch (Emmeline – center photo; Sydney – on right) and how it bounced.

Ooblich #1 Ooblich #2 Ooblich #3

Ooblich – Students made a non-Newtonian fluid in science last week, taking a much deserved break after testing.  When stress is applied, the cornstarch and water mixture acts as a solid, otherwise it has a liquid property.

Airplanes #1 Airplanes #2

White Wings – Students in Mr. Bronson’s 8th grade science built paper airplanes with Bernoulli’s Principle in mind.  The plane’s wings are designed to create their own lift due to their shape.

Congrats to the winning team of Cade S., Mike L. and Anthony S. of 26 seconds.
