SNOW LINE:As the winter weather season gears up, don’t forget you can call our Snow Line for closing information. The snow line number is: 440-632-0261, option 9. The message on the line is usually updated by 6:15 a.m. if a closing has been issued. Parents – if school has not been cancelled due to inclement weather, you can choose to keep your child home if you feel it is best. Please call them off to the respective building secretary, as usual, and we will excuse the absence.  |  ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

VISION & HEARING SCREENINGS: District health administrators will be conducting vision and hearing screenings throughout the year for new students, Kindergarteners, 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, and 11th graders. Notifications will be sent home only if your child needs additional screenings. Contact the school health nurse for questions.

NEW! BID NOTICE: The Cardinal Local School District is hereby giving notice that sealed bid proposals for the CHS and JES renovations will be accepted at the BOE office until 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Thursday, January 10, 2019.  |  DETAILS


NEW! BOE MEETING: The Cardinal Board of Education meeting scheduled for Wednesday, December 12, 2018 has been changed to begin at 4:30 p.m. The meeting will beheld in the BOE office. The BOE meeting set for Wednesday, December 26, 2018 has been cancelled. The board will meet again Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at 5:30 p.m.


FINANCE COMMITTEE: The Cardinal Board of Education is looking for 2 or 3 community members and business owners to join the District’s Finance Advisory Committee.  This committee is to meet up to six times throughout the year to review and discuss the various financial aspects of the District, such as monthly and yearly financial reports, the five-year forecast, the permanent appropriations and levy issues.  The goal is to learn and understand the issues that are impacting the Cardinal Local School District and help to educate the Community on those issues. If you are interested in joining the Committee please send a letter of interest to Merry Lou Knuckles, Treasurer at PO Box 188, Middlefield, OH 44062 by December 21, 2018.

P2P FEES REDUCED: At their August 8, 2018 regular meeting, members of the Cardinal Local School District Board of Education unanimously voted to approve a reduced pay to participate fee schedule. The reduced fees come after a generous donation from the Joe Peters Memorial Pig Roast and Car Raffle. The reduced fees are as follows: 

  • High school sports: $180
  • Middle school sports: $90
  • Music activities: $45
