JES Cafe “The Place to Be!”

Congratulations to our Food Service Director Janis Benton on being recognized by the Ohio Department of Education Office of Child Nutrition for making the Jordak Elementary School cafeteria “the place to be!” ODE put out a “tell us your story” request to districts across the state on how food service professionals make the school cafeteria the place to be. After a difficult review process, the office selected five stories to be shared throughout National School Lunch Week – including Ms. Benton’s story on JES! We’ve included her words in a screen shot below. Benton says, “While all the cafeterias in Cardinal Local School District are places to be, the AJ Jordak Elementary cafeteria is the best place for students grades K-4. The cafeteria staff loves to find reasons to dress up, serve themed menus, and even sing songs. You may even catch us doing the conga line! We do giveaways and special treat days to get kids to join in the fun (see below!) We plan to speak like pirates one day very soon. We also work in fun books and learning about food and nutrition. We like to have fun!”  Way to go Ms. Benton and all of the staff that make Jordak, CMS, and CHS cafeterias AWESOME!
