FREE MEALS FOR ENTIRE 2020-2021 SCHOOL YEAR: We are pleased to share with you that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has now extended its summer meal program through the end of the 2020-2021 school year. This extension will allow the Cardinal Local School District to provide FREE breakfast and lunch to each student during school days. The meals are free regardless of financial status. | INFORMATIONAL LETTER
INCLEMENT WEATHER REMINDER: As a reminder, the District Snow Line is still available to check on school closing information on days where the weather may be bad. You can reach the Snow Line by calling 440-632-0261 and selecting option 9 when prompted. The message is usually updated by 6:15 a.m.
2019-2020 YEARBOOKS: The 2019-2020 yearbooks are IN! Current students may pick up their yearbook (if ordered) in the art room. Remote learners and 2020 grads may pick up their pre-ordered yearbooks in the school office during office hours. Please contact the CHS Office (440-632-0261 opt.5) for pick up information.

IMMUNIZATION RECORDS NEEDED: All student immunization records are due into the office by Tuesday, September 15. If an appointment has been scheduled to update your student’s immunizations, please let us know and we will accept that for the time being, but please get us those updated immunization records immediately following that appointment.
OPTIONAL FALL TESTING: Students in grades 10-12 received information via email about several option fall tests that can be taken. These include the PSAT, SAT, ASVAB and the Americanism test. The deadline to register for the PSAT and SAT is this Friday, September 11. Please direct all questions to Mrs. DeRamo at jill.deramo@cardinalschools.org. | TESTING INFORMATION
STUDENT WITHDRAWALS: Families who need to withdraw their student from school, may now submit their form electronically. Verification of enrollment into the new school must be provided within 10 SCHOOL DAYS. | WITHDRAW FROM CHS

IMMUNIZATION INFORMATION: All immunization records were due by Friday, September 20, 2019. 7th grade students must have a TDAP and meningococcal vaccination and 12th graders must have a second meningococcal booster. 6 EARLY RELEASE DAYS REMOVED FROM CALENDAR: At the January 13, 2021 Board of Education meeting the Board voted to remove the following Early Release Wednesdays from the calendar:
February 10, March 3, April 7, 14, 21, and 28. These days are now full school days. The change will help the district make up student instructional hours lost due to the pandemic.

GEAUGA COUNTY MOVES TO RED LEVEL: Cardinal Schools will remain open | HEALTH DEPARTMENT STATEMENT

The free meals are also allowing the district to provide meals to families for weekends too. Students in all buildings will be able to get a bag of breakfast items as they leave on Fridays. There is no need to sign up for the weekend breakfast program, students can simply grab a bag and go!

UH School Restart Playbook | SCHOOL EXCLUSION CRITERIA | RETURN TO SCHOOL CRITERIA
DISTRICT-WIDE REMOTE LEARNING MEAL REQUEST: Should the district move back to all remote learning due to COVID-19 reasons, whether it’s for one day or several, our food service department will continue to provide meals on those days. We need to prepare for this now and are asking families to please review the information provided here and submit the form if you’d like to participate in this service. | INFORMATION | MEAL SIGN-UP
TRANSPORTATION OPT OUT: Parents who wish to transport their child(ren) to school this year in lieu of riding the bus should complete this transportation opt-out form. Students riding the bus will sit two to a seat and be required to wear masks at all times. We can fit a maximum of 44 students on each bus. You can opt back in for transportation after opting out, however, this form should only be used by those who plan to transport their child(ren) the majority of the time; this is NOT to be used for daily change requests. | OPT-OUT FORM
RE-OPENING PLANS Q & A – Please take a moment to read through the plans carefully. We have done our best to answer as many questions as we could at this point. Not all details are finalized currently and we appreciate your patience as we continue to work through the challenges. DISTRICT WITHDRAWALS: Families who need to withdraw their students from the district may now submit their withdrawal form electronically. Please submit one form per student. Please note, if verification of enrollment into the new school is not received within 10 SCHOOL DAYS, the district is required to notify the Bureau of Motor Vehicles and the Geauga County Juvenile Judge. PANDEMIC ELECTRONIC BENEFITS TRANSFER (P-EBT) UPDATE: Ohio has been approved to operate Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT). Administered by the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services, the P-EBT program provides additional monetary assistance to households with children eligible for free or reduced-price meals dealing with school closures. | FLYER
