Note from the Nurse

Parents of 11th graders moving into 12th grade, the state of Ohio requires that a 2nd dose of Meningococcal (MCV4) be administered prior to entering the 12th grade.  These vaccines may be offered at your doctor’s office, Rite Aid, CVS, Walgreens, or Wal-Mart.  The Geauga Health Department may be able to provide assistance if needed.

The school health staff is required to complete vision and hearing screenings on all new students and all students in the 9th and 11th grades, unless their parents declined the screenings.  These screenings should begin in the middle of October.  If you have concerns about your child’s vision or hearing and they are not in these grades, please contact me to discuss options.  I can be reached at 440-632-0261, ext 5005 or marie.roake@cardinalschools.org.  If your student fails a screening, a re-screening will be completed about a week after the first screening.  If they fail the rescreening a letter will be sent home explaining which screening was failed and why they failed it.  Please take the letter to a doctor and have it completed.  Please return completed forms to the High school or have it faxed to 440-632-1734.

A Message From the Principal:

Dear Cardinal family,
I would like to welcome you all to the new school year at Cardinal High School.  The staff looks forward to meeting and working with each and every student and their families as we partner to help all achieve their academic goals and to continue to develop the proud culture of the Cardinal Local School District.  We are all Huskies and we will continue to “chase excellence” each and every day!
Cardinal High School welcomes all families and school-community organizations to our building.  As stated above, we want to partner with all of you to provide the best educational experiences for our students in a safe and inviting atmosphere.  Please reach out to us at any time to begin those conversations and the collaborative process that will help all reach the intended goal.
There will be some exciting and significant changes this school year at Cardinal High School.  First of all, our summer work crews have done a fantastic job getting the building ready for the school year.  Also, we have transitioned from a block bell schedule to a traditional bell schedule that will better align with our middle school bell schedule.  The bell schedule is posted on our webpage.  Moreover, early release Wednesdays have been removed from the district calendar and professional development days for the district will be communicated with all very soon.  Finally, we will be using a new mathematics resource for Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II called CPM. A link for this resource is posted on our webpage as well.
Cardinal High School is a special place.  We are all responsible for developing, practicing, and maintaining the strong culture and pride that is representative of the Cardinal School Community.  Go Huskies!
I look forward to working with all of you very soon.
Take care,
Michael Hall
Cardinal High School Principal
