Back to School 2020-2021

DISTRICT-WIDE REMOTE LEARNING SCHEDULE: Here is the schedule for students should we move to district-wide remote learning, whether for a day or an extended period of time:

  • Specials & K-2: Students will receive paper pencil work to complete (this could change to internet-based work, or a combination of the two as the year progresses)
  • Grade 3: Virtual learning – will follow the in building schedule and take place between 9:00-10:20 a.m. & 12:25 -3:00 p.m.; students will bring Chromebooks home with them.
  • Grade 4: Virtual learning – will follow the in building schedule and take place between 8:50-11:30 a.m. & 1:30-2:50 p.m.; students will bring Chromebooks home with them.

If you have concerns or needs, please contact your child’s teacher, or the building, to make the necessary arrangements to ensure your child’s success on these days.

Car riders

ARRIVAL: Students will have their temperature taken as they exit their car at the Huskie Hut. Once their temperature is taken and cleared, they will walk down the stairs, across the bus driveway when a staff member says it’s safe to cross and go one of two ways. Those who are eating breakfast will go to the right and enter the cafeteria from the outside door to grab their breakfast and then go to their assigned classroom. Those who are not eating breakfast will go to the left and in the main doors to their classroom. Please remember to keep your distance as you’re walking through each area.

DISMISSAL: Car riders will be dismissed to the cafeteria where they will wait until their name is called that their ride has come. They will then exit the building, walk up to the Huskie Hut, and get into their car.

Bus riders

ARRIVAL: Students who arrive by bus will be dismissed from their bus one student at a time. A staff member will take their temperature and once cleared they will enter through the main doors. If a student is eating breakfast, they should enter through the door on the right, go into the cafeteria, grab their breakfast, and then proceed to their assigned classrooms. Those students who are not eating breakfast should enter the building through the left door and proceed immediately to their assigned classroom. Please remember to keep your distance as you walk through each area.

DISMISSAL: Students will be dismissed by bus. They will walk out the main entrance doors and onto their buses.

Staff members will be taking each students’ temperature as they arrive at JES for the day. Temperatures will be taken using an infrared thermometer. Students who record a temperature of 100.4 or higher will be taken to a separate area of the office where they will stay until a family member can pick them up.

Third grade classes have been relocated to the CCLC building. Upon arrival to JES all 3rd graders will report to the gym. Students who are eating breakfast should grab their breakfast first, and then report to the gym. In the gym there will be spaces marked for students to stand by classroom. Once everyone has arrived, third grade teachers will walk each of their classes over to their room at the CCLC building.  Mrs. Pollock and Mrs. Misinic are in the large conference room (the old gym), and Ms. Farrow is in the science lab.

Students will be able to enjoy recess each day that the weather allows. Each class will have an “area” that they’re designated to play in each day while keeping their distance, and still having fun. Areas are divided by their ground-covering, and include the wood-chip area, rubber-chip area, and grass/blacktop areas. Both the wood-chipped area and rubber-chipped area have playground equipment in them, and per guidance from University Hospitals we understand that these things are ok for kids to play on essentially once every 24 hours, which is why only one class per day is allowed in these areas. The equipment then has 24 hours to sit before another group of students utilizes it.

Meals will continue to be provided at both breakfast and lunch for students. Breakfast meals will be grab-n-go style, and lunch will be a regular menu students can order from.  Breakfast will be eaten in a child’s classroom and lunch will be in the cafeteria. Seating will be spaced out and checkerboard style.
