My name is Michelle Nizen and I so thrilled to be the new Principal of Jordak Elementary School and be a team with the most amazing, hardworking, caring, compassionate, and dedicated staff. This is my first year as principal in the Cardinal School District and I am looking forward to a great year! Previously, I have taught, served as an Academic Coach, and led as an Assistant Principal at McKinley Elementary School in Fairport Harbor where I started my educational career 14 years ago. I am overjoyed to be a Huskie and excited to further the district’s mission of providing an engaging, motivating, and safe environment for the development of all students to be successful, productive, life-long learners and responsible members of society while the schools continue to be the heart of a thriving community. I am so excited to be a part of the rich history and sense of community in the Cardinal Schools that is both powerful and transformative as evidenced by the continuous upward momentum seen throughout the district over the years. The current initiatives and strategic plan, coupled with the forwarding thinking staff is expedient for continued future success.
I whole heartedly believe that through a collaborative culture of teamwork, respect, caring and concomitant proactive, solution- focused efforts towards a common goal of student achievement and teacher effectiveness we can maximize our impact on our blessed field of education.
I received my undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education and Reading Endorsement from John Carroll University and my first Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction: Teachers Leadership with a second Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from Ashland University.
I am a firm believer in establishing strong relationships and look forward to being a dynamic team with you this year and continuing to work together to meet the needs of all of our students while helping them develop a sense of intrinsic motivation, critical thinking skills, goal setting capabilities, and the cultivation of a love of learning.
