Katie Thomas

Thomas_headshotMrs. Katie Thomas was elected to the Cardinal Board of Education in 2011 and re-elected for a second term in 2015.

Mrs. Thomas is a graduate of Cardinal High School and Bowling Green State University with a degree in education.  She was a substitute teacher at Cardinal for fourteen years and then a full time health and physical education teacher for nine years.  She retired from teaching in June of 2011.

Mrs. Thomas is married to Dave Thomas, who taught vocal music at Cardinal Schools for thirty years.   She was active in his music program at Cardinal by playing piano for choir concerts and high school musicals. She was also the choreographer for the Cardinaires show choir as well as the school musicals.

An active member at her church for over thirty years, Mrs. Thomas has taught Sunday School, directed the Jr. Choir program, been in leadership with women’s ministries and a church musician.  She also coached her children’s baseball and softball teams.  In her free time, she enjoys being outside, exercising, traveling, spending time with her family, and playing with her nine grandchildren.

Mrs. Thomas enjoys attending events at Cardinal Schools and seeing her former students excelling in both athletics and academics.  As a retired teacher, Mrs. Thomas understands the demands and rewards from being in education.  She says she is committed to being an advocate for students in Cardinal Schools and to help ensure that they receive the quality education they need to be successful in life.
