About our Jr/Sr High School

We are excited that the 2024-2025 school year marks a new era for the Cardinal Local School District. Part of that new era is that seventh and eighth grade students will be attending what used to be called Cardinal High School. This 7-12 campus is now called Cardinal JR/SR High School and has an average enrollment of 375 students. As we move forward, the teaching staff continues to study and implement strategies from Ohio's Plan to Raise Literacy Achievement. Our goal is that when a student graduates, he/she will either be going to college, entering a trade school, starting a career, or enlisting in the military. Students can pursue each of these paths at Cardinal JR/SR High School which will create a solid foundation for their future. Students have the opportunity to take college preparatory classes, fine arts classes, college credit plus courses from Lakeland Community College and Hiram College, and career technical courses that will all help provide a quality educational experience.

A Message From the Principal

Hello Cardinal Jr./Sr. High School Families, Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! My name is Paul Gerycz. I am so excited to begin this new era in the Cardinal Local School District where I will be the Principal at Cardinal Jr/Sr High School Principal! Our campus will house all 7th-12th grade students in our district. It is an incredible honor and privilege to be able to serve our Cardinal families in this role. This year will begin my thirty-sixth year in education where I have been a principal, an athletic director, a teacher, and a coach. My wife Sally and I have been married for thirty-two years. We have been blessed with two daughters. Our oldest daughter, Allison, is married to Zach. Our youngest daughter, Emily, is married to Jayson. We are Ohio natives and life-long Cleveland sports fans. At Cardinal Local Schools, everything we do is based on our core belief of Huskie P.R.I.D.E. (Productive, Respectful, Involved, Determined, and Empathetic). A Message From the Assistant Principal

Hello Cardinal Jr./Sr. High School Families, Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! I would like to welcome you all to the new school year at Cardinal Local Schools. The staff is excited to work with each and every student to help them achieve all of their academic goals. We work extremely hard to support every student and to build and develop a culture and climate of excellence. I’m proud to say that the 2024-2025 school year will be my 16th year at Cardinal Local Schools. I have been at Cardinal from the beginning, completing my student teaching here, working as a building sub, head varsity coach and classroom teacher. I am excited to begin my second year as the 7-12 assistant principal and continue to serve the Cardinal community. Education is about people, and as Woody Hayes once said “You win with people!” We value communication, collaboration and the connections we make in our community.
