Return to School Criteria

If your student is sent home with any of the following symptoms and they last longer than 24 hours, the written documentation from a medical professional stating when they can return to school is required.

  • Headache

  • Nausea

  • Fatigue

  • Sore throat

  • Cough

  • Loss of taste/smell

  • Muscle/body aches

  • Chills

  • Shortness of breath/difficulty breathing

  • New onset / worsening nasal congestion unrelated to allergies

  • Chest pain (may require immediate medical attention)

Please note: If your student is being sent home with any of the symptoms above and they resolve overnight, they can return to school the next day with a parent note.

If your student is being sent home with a fever (100.4 F or greater), vomiting or diarrhea, school policy states your student must be symptom free for 24 hours, without medication, before returning to school. If your student is experiences a fever, vomiting or diarrhea for longer than 24 hours, then written documentation from a medical professional stating when they can return to school is required.

If your student has no fever and otherwise feels well, they may attend school with a mild runny nose, sore throat, or cough. However, if they have a persistent cough or excessively runny nose please keep them home. If the sore throat is accompanied by other symptoms such as a headache, stomach ache, and/or rash please them home.
