Music in Our Schools Month (MIOSM) is an annual celebration held in March to raise awareness about the importance of music education in schools and communities! It's a time to highlight the value of music programs in fostering creativity, teamwork and academic achievement among students.
Let's give a standing ovation to our incredible music teachers who ignite passion, inspire creativity, and nurture talent every day!
🎶 Meet Ms. Lauren Zetts! 🎵
Lauren, a Jr./Sr. High teacher at Cardinal, brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the classroom. A proud native of Campbell, OH, she graduated from Lowellville High School in 2016, earned her bachelor’s degree from Youngstown State University in 2020, and completed her Master's at Ohio University in 2022. 🎓
Her love for classical music fuels her, and when she’s not teaching, you can find her running or reminiscing about marching down Main Street at Disney World — one of her all-time favorite music memories. 🏃♀️✨
When asked how music has impacted her life, Lauren shared, "Research shows all of the positive impacts that music can have. My everyday experience with music includes using it to relax, express myself, improve well-being, and build personal connections. My short-term goals are focused on building a relationship with students and the community and strengthening our community involvement through student ownership and participation in music-making. My long-term goals for my time at Cardinal include developing our current relationships with the music department and community, researching and developing untapped potential partnerships and relationships, expanding our activity in the community, extending our reach beyond our Huskie Nation, and providing students with the support and opportunity for additional musical endeavors such as honors societies and honors ensembles."
We’re thrilled to have Lauren’s expertise and passion for music here at Cardinal! 🎼

🎉 Meet Ms. Sarah LaMantia! 🎶
A Kirtland Ohio native, Sarah graduated from Kirtland High School before earning her teaching degree from Miami University of Ohio in 2024. This is her first year teaching and her first year with the Cardinal family! 🐾🏫
Her passion for music runs deep — from enjoying jazz to using music as a creative outlet in which it has helped her build lasting friendships. When asked why music is important, Sarah said, "Music is a universal language, so everyone can share their creative expression no matter who you are, what language you speak, or where you're from."
We’re excited to have Sarah as part of our Cardinal family and can’t wait to see her vision come to life! 🙌
